IDC: Xiaomi ranks 3rd in global smartphone market in Q2 2025

A new IDC report shows that Xiaomi secured the third position in the global mobile market in the second quarter of the year, following giants like Samsung and Apple.

The news follows the company’s successful releases, from budget to flagship offerings, using its subbrands like Redmi.

According to IDC, the worldwide smartphone market grew 1.0% in Q2 2025. The list was dominated by Samsung and Apple, which secured first and second place with 7.9% and 1.5% growth, respectively. While Xiaomi’s YoY growth is comparatively lower at 0.6%, it is still just steps behind the two foreign competitors in terms of shipment and market share during the said period. As per IDC, the company shipped 42.5 million (vs. Samsung’s 58M and Apple’s 46.4M) units and owned 14.4% (vs. 19.7% and 15.7%) at the said quarter.

One of the possible huge contributors to the company’s success is the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which arrived in March. During the period, the entire Xiaomi 15 series also gathered impressive sales, with a past report claiming that the lineup reached 2M unit sales in China alone. In the second quarter, the company also shared that all of its Redmi Note models collectively gathered 400 million unit sales globally.
