Sony confirmed that several of its Sony Xperia 1 VII models are affected by a certain issue. In line with this, the Japanese company is opening a replacement program for affected users.
The Sony smartphone launched in May. However, several users reported experiencing major issues with some of their devices, including unwanted reboots and shutdowns.
According to the company, “the manufacturing process may cause a failure of the circuit board in a small number of Xperia 1 VII smartphones, which could potentially result in power issues.” Sony claimed that it made changes to its manufacturing process to prevent future issues.
Moreover, the company is now addressing the issue with affected units by offering owners replacement units. The program will start on Monday, and applicants need to verify their IMEI numbers as part of the process.
